Dr. Ameli attended Northwestern University Medical School. He completed internship and residency programs in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and served as Chief Resident, as well as Clinical Instructor in Medicine, at UCLA School of Medicine. He completed the fellowship program in cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and served as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Ameli is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the Nevada State Medical Association and Clark County Medical Society. Dr. Ameli has served multiple terms as Chair of Division of Cardiology, Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiovascular & Open Heart Surgery Programs, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Critical Care Committee, and Vice Chief of Staff, Medical Executive Committee at Mountain View Hospital. Dr. Ameli has been on the National Scientific Council and the National Faculty of the American Heart Association, and has served as a multiple term President of the Las Vegas Division Board of the American Heart Association.

Dr. Ameli’s research has been presented nationally and internationally including the American Federation of Clinical Research, the American College of Cardiology, the 3rd Annual International Congress of Heart Failure Mechanisms and Management in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as the American Heart Association. He has won numerous awards, including 2003 “Heart of Gold” American Heart Association honoree, 2005 “Man of the Year” American Heart Association honoree, 2009 “Cardiologist of the Year” American Heart Association, and one of the top cardiologists in Las Vegas in the 2011 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals and Physicians in the United States.”

Dr. Ameli serves as an expert spokesman with the local and national news media and before governing bodies. Dr. Ameli has practiced cardiology for 18 years. He is married and has two children.
